Listen to the magnificent repertoire of Christmas and Holiday classics with internationally renowned mezzo-soprano and Bologna native, Benedetta Orsi. Italian, international, and American holiday classics will be performed. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind performance featuring musicians of the St Louis Symphony Orchestra the St Louis Women's Chorale with over 40 voices on stage!

Vi siete mai chiesti come sarebbe vivere nel deserto a esplorare rovine non viste dagli occhi umani da secoli? Mai considerato cosa possiamo imparare dagli indizi lasciati secoli fa?

Avremo un’opportunità per poter ascoltare un esperto del campo! Il Prof. Nicola Aravecchia, professore di archeologia a Washington University in St Louis, lavora da anni nel campo e ora dirige gli scavi in un'oasi egiziana. Ha viaggiato il mondo a studiare e insegnare.

Gli scavi ad Amheida (nel deserto occidentale egiziano) sono iniziati nel 2001. Il Professor Aravecchia è il co-autore del libro "An Oasis City," che parla di questa città antica che raggiunse il suo apice durante il periodo romano, prima di essere abbandonata tra la fine del quarto e l'inizio del quinto secolo D.C.

Ad Amheida, il professore e i suoi colleghi hanno identificato uno dei primi complessi funerari cristiani, datato alla meta' del quarto secolo. Questa chiesa, studiata dal Professor Aravecchia, è fondamentale per capire le prime società cristiane e rappresenta uno dei primi esempi di architettura cristiana.

What is the Ciao Bambini Exhibit at The Magic House?

From pizzas to piazzas, Ciao Bambini (hello kids!) will transport families to the beautiful country of Italy. The exhibit will highlight Italy’s world-renowned architecture, art and food, and pay tribute to its significant historical contributions while showing what life is like for children in Italy today.

Families will learn to make pasta in a traditional Italian home, serve delicious treats in a gelateria, create a mosaic masterpiece, learn some Italian, and find out why the city of Rome is like lasagna. Plus, capture your travels with a photo on a Vespa in a piazza.

Join us for Ferragosto 2023 - The St Louis Italian Summer Party on Friday, August 18th at the Enterprise Pavilion at Shaw Park in Clayton. Ferragosto is an ancient tradition going back over 2,000 years. It is the largest Italian summer festival of the year. Today we invite to taste and experience contemporary Italian cuisine and culture.

WHEN: FRIDAY, AUGUST 18, 2023 ~ 5PM - 11PM 
WHERE: ENTERPRISE PAVILION, SHAW PARK, CLAYTON  

Chef Alessandro Valentino and Pizzaiolo Scott Hoff will be making Neapolitan pizzas. $10 will get you a large pizza (any topping), an Italian cocktail or other alcoholic beverage, and a soft drink.

For anyone who doesn't want pizza, feel free to bring a dish or drink to share. The $10 is for those who want to order pizza which also comes with an alcoholic beverage and a non alcoholic beverage. These pizzas are made to order and made by hand by our pizzaiolos and you can choose any topping. If you just want to come and dance and sing, there's no cost to do that. The nearby sand volleyball courts and playgrounds are also available for our use.

Our DJ will play contemporary Italian music and popular Italian hits. Make sure to stay for Italian style karaoke later in the evening so prepare yourself with a few of your favorite songs! Sarebbe meglio se potete cantare in italiano!
