Listen and learn as the Milan-born author of "No Ketchup on Spaghetti: The Complete Guide on How to Shop, Eat, and Cook Like an Italian" shares her story. She will discuss her inspiration for writing the book and explore topics such as authentic Italian food versus the unpleasant phenomenon of "Italian-sounding" and how to use the high-quality Italian food products in everyday cooking. Organizzata dalla rete diplomatico-consolare e degli Istituti Italiani di Cultura assieme a MiBACT, MUR e ai principali partner della promozione linguistica in Italia (Accademia della Crusca, Società Dante Alighieri) e al Governo della Confederazione elvetica, la Settimana è divenuta nel tempo una delle più importanti iniziative dedicate alla celebrazione della lingua italiana nel mondo. Sin dalla sua istituzione, questo appuntamento ha ricevuto annualmente l’Alto Patronato da parte della Presidenza della Repubblica.
Ogni Settimana è dedicata a un tema diverso, che serve da filo conduttore per un ricco programma di conferenze, mostre e incontri. La scorsa edizione, dal titolo “L’Italiano sul palcoscenico”, ha dato vita a un ampio ventaglio di eventi (circa 900 in oltre 100 paesi) dedicati alla musica, alla canzone popolare, al teatro, alla drammaturgia e al melodramma. Nelle precedenti edizioni la Settimana si era concentrata sui legami con la creatività, con un’attenzione particolare alle industrie culturali quali la musica (2015), il design e la moda (2016), il cinema (2017). L’edizione 2018 ha invece esplorato i rapporti tra la lingua e la rete, nella sua accezione sia fisica sia digitale. La XX edizione della Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo, in programma dal 19 al 25 ottobre 2020, avrà come titolo “L'italiano tra parola e immagine: graffiti, illustrazioni, fumetti”. Gli eventi e le attività previsti verteranno infatti su quelle forme espressive che valorizzano la lingua italiana attraverso l’immagine, con un’enfasi particolare sul fumetto, la novella grafica e più in generale la filiera dell’editoria per l’infanzia e l’adolescenza. Tra i partner istituzionali, il MUR ha manifestato l’intenzione di coinvolgere le Università e le istituzioni dell'Alta Formazione Artistica, Musicale e Coreutica (AFAM), mentre il MiBACT metterà a disposizione le competenze della propria Direzione Generale Biblioteche. Anche il Centro per il libro e la lettura (CePeLL) del MiBACT parteciperà all’edizione del 2020, con una serie di attività online sul tema dell’Italia come “vocabolario”: illustratori e graphic novelist rappresenteranno graficamente una o più parole congeniali alla loro visione d’arte; ne realizzeranno poi un filmato che sarà messo a disposizione del Centro e degli Istituti di Cultura interessati. La Settimana sarà infine all’interno del programma del “Maggio dei Libri” del Centro. L’Accademia della Crusca curerà come di consueto una raccolta di saggi sul tema della manifestazione. La partecipazione della Confederazione Elvetica vedrà le sue Rappresentanze diplomatiche collaborare con le nostre Sedi all’organizzazione di eventi e attività. Lucca Comics inoltre ricomprenderà tra le iniziative della Settimana il concorso per giovani talenti del fumetto, da loro organizzato annualmente. This year we're proud to feature the art of Evelyn Astegno, and her series of 10 masterpieces entitled MASQUERADE, rococò inspired paintings of Venice and its famed Carnevale, which will be on display. Astegno was born and raised in Vicenza, a town outside Venice in northeastern Italy. After graduating from the University of Venice, she moved to St Louis where she has been a resident artist and curator at Third Floor Gallery on Washington Avenue. She has had numerous works on display at art galleries in the U.S. and Italy. Venetian style masquerade masks are strongly encouraged. Prizes will be awarded for the three best masks. Colorful cocktails and a photo booth will be provided by PURUS VODKA, (a Made in Italy and local STL owned organic vodka). An exquisite dinner served buffet-style will be prepared by culinary artist Ron Buechele followed by music and entertainment.
