We are, moreover, honored to begin a partnership with such an esteemed and storied Italian restaurant which shares our values and which dedicates itself to promoting authentic Italian cuisine in the U.S. We are very happy to have welcomed chef de cuisine Sergio Chierego into our community and we look forward to the events and other surprises he has planned for us in the coming year. ABOUT CASA DON ALFONSO AT THE RITZ-CARLTON ST LOUIS Casa Don Alfonso - St Louis is restauranteur Mario Iaccarino's very first restaurant in the United States. The Iaccarino family has been in the hospitality business for over 120 years beginning with Mario's great-grandfather Alfonso who built the famed Hotel Iaccarino in 1890 at Sant'Agata, near Naples, in the region of Campania. Over the years, the establishment at Sant'Agata has become a beautiful gem on the Mediterranean Sea which respects the thousand-year-old food tradition of the Sorrento peninsula and Amalfi coasts. The opportunity to open Casa Don Alfonso at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton came about because of a personal connection that Mario Iaccarino had with the owner of the Ritz-Cartlon who has frequented Don Alfonso 1890 at Sant'Agata for many years. Through this friendship, a vision was born which now has become a reality. The 140-seat restaurant and bar, slated to open in late February, will feature multiple dining areas with relaxed seating in the lounge area and counter seating surrounding the open kitchen. The Italian Community is excited to begin cooking classes in 2021 with Chef Sergio! Non vediamo l'ora!
