PRESS RELEASE: 4 April 2020
The Italian Community of St Louis is inviting all St Louisans to help support the selfless health personnel and volunteers who are working around the clock at the epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic in Northern Italy. Money raised will be transferred to the Croce Rossa Italiana - San Donato Milanese, a local branch of the Italian Red Cross that is coordinating efforts to combat the outbreak in several hard-hit areas in and around Milan. Money will be used to buy critical equipment and materials, in particular ffp ⅔ masks, surgery masks, gloves, disinfectant and tyvek personal protective equipment. The coronavirus outbreak tearing through Italy has turned a nation that is known for donating medical expertise and equipment abroad into a country in need. Hospitals in hard-hit regions like Lombardy are at a saturation point. Health workers are describing immense pressure and war-like conditions in the fight to treat patients. Every day is a scramble to find more intensive care beds for the critically ill, as well as medicines and basic protective equipment, including masks and gloves. Any contribution, big or small, will make a huge difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and please spread the word! Italy needs help NOW. #westandwithitaly #siamoconvoi #covid19 #unitaliacheaiuta To make a donation, please visit our gofundme page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/we-stand-with-italy-coronavirus Visit the Croce Rossa Italiana - Comitato di San Donato Milanese Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/cri.sandonatomilanese/ For questions and messages of support: Elisabetta Salvati, volunteer nurse, CRI Comitato di San Donato Milanese [email protected] With gratitude, The Italian Community of St Louis St Louis - Bologna Sister Cities Club Italiano Per Piacere
